Cynthia (Ayala) Alexander is a singer-songwriter and music producer-arranger rolled into one.
'Revered by young musicians as the doyenne of alternative artists, Cynthia Alexander's music first found fruition with the rock group Hayp, for which she won the Best Bass Player Award at the 1989 World Band Explosion Finals in Tokyo.'
Deciding to go solo in 1996 brought Cynthia back to playing guitar and piano, producing ‘somber angst-sponge cello-laced meditations while sweeping the gamut of pre-millennial anxiety central to Alanis Morisette'. She is one of the country's few guitarists who ‘specialize' in alternate tunings.
