the cynthia alexander group performs the gamut of folk, world beat, new age, rock, jazz (they even on occasion play covers of the beatles, joni mitchell, indigo girls and other friendly stuff) with their standard setup of alternate tuned guitars and maguindanaoan gongs (southern philippines) and indian indian tals (rhythms) with sometimes even a saxophone or cello player to sweeten and spice up the live stage.
They have live-scored twice at the German Silent Film Festival - the 1920's art film ‘Destiny' by Fritz Lang (2005) and Joe May's Asphalt (2006)
They opened Fete de la Musique (Manila)'s WorldMusic Stage for four consecutive years (2001 to 2005).
The group has also performed with the British Airways PipeBand (2002) to raise funds for the children of Mango Tree House (Payatas) and collaborated with top UK Performance Poet Francesca Beard (November 2005).
The Cynthia Alexander Group at the Rainforest World Music Festival in Sarawak, Borneo (August 2000). Here they joined stage with international worldmusic artists Masabo Culture Company (Ivory Coast and Benin); Aja Addy (Ghana); Isizikulu Siga 7 (South Africa) and Inka Marka (Australia, Music from the Andes).
